At The Trees, our aim is to create a calm and caring environment for men with autism and learning disabilities.  We offer a welcoming and homely supported living service in a beautiful village setting, where residents can learn the skills they need to become more independent.  Our small size – with just four bedrooms – gives the place a family feel, and we share mealtimes as well as activities.  Our dedicated staff team recognises that our residents are individuals; we understand their needs and take enormous pride in their progress – their achievements are our achievements.

    Care

At The Trees we understand how our residents see and experience the world and how this can impact on their daily life.  Our ethos is one of positive behaviour support and our staff are trained in using proactive and reactive strategies to minimise challenging behaviours.

We use verbal encouragement to help our residents achieve daily tasks, from personal care, making meals and choosing foods to activities in the community such as food shopping, personal shopping and banking.  We champion a ‘can do’ approach, giving residents the opportunity to participate in a wide range of outside activities that foster confidence and independence – you will regularly see us out for walks around the lakes of Milton Keynes or taking part in dance lessons.  Our team is available to support residents 24 hours a day, with one carer on duty overnight to respond to any care needs that may arise.

    Facilities

Our scheme is housed in a modern detached property, purpose built in 2003.  Inside, the newly decorated rooms include a welcoming communal lounge and an up-to-date communal kitchen diner where residents can often be found preparing delicious home-cooked meals for their fellow house mates.  Residents also make use of the practical utility room, fitted with industrial washing machines.

In addition to the communal facilities, we have four large private bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom.  Residents are welcome to bring their own furniture if required, and there are TV aerial points in each room as well as access to the internet.

The property lives up to its name with a lovely tree-filled garden to the rear; equipped with its own trampoline and raised vegetable beds, the space is regularly enjoyed by residents.

    Activities

Activities are central to daily life at The Trees; our person centred approach takes into account our residents’ needs and interests, so whether it’s banking, shopping, park walks, trips to the barbers, lunches out or train rides, we tailor each day to the individual.

Our residents are also fully supported to get out and about into the local community; dance classes, gym sessions and visits to the pub are all part of the weekly routine.  Making sure that residents enjoy their time here – and get the most out of life – is at the forefront of all that we do.

    Location

Our scheme is set in the quiet village of Drayton Parslow, on the outskirts of Bletchley and Stewkley.  The village has a park with a basketball area and playing field, as well as a local public house.

The hard working and dedicated staff at The Trees staff have brought out aspects of our son that we did not realise he possessed, and have developed him in to a happy, caring and gentle person. We hold The Tress in such a high regard and have such peace of mind that he is always being properly cared for in both body and mind. The Trees is his perfect home, and will always be so.
