The building has access for wheelchair users and has the equipment to provide a high level of support to individuals whilst maintaining the homely environment.
All the residents have personalised their rooms and are encouraged to make choices in whatever way they can. The residents at Ashley Drive are non-verbal but communicate using body language, facial expressions and sounds which the dedicated staff team understand. The staff all work in a person centred way, recognising the individual preferences of the residents.
The staff team are highly trained in a wide range of subjects, including administering medication, moving and handling, safeguarding, epilepsy and peg tubes. The staff have a wide range of experience between them with diverse knowledge and skills. Family members are encouraged to be involved with their relative’s care and made to feel welcome. Ashley Drive has regular input from other health professionals such as occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and doctors.
Ashley Drive is registered with the CQC to provide accommodation to people who require personal care and has the equipment needed to provide a high level of quality care. Moving and handling equipment such as hoists are installed in rooms where these are needed. Specialist shower chairs and beds recommended by the Occupational Therapists are provided where these are needed. There is also a specialist bath for those who prefer a bath to a shower.
The six residents each have their own bedroom and own wet room which includes a toilet and shower. The bedrooms are large enough for visitors to spend time with them in privacy.
There is a communal bathroom with a specialist bath. The residents share the communal lounge, dining room and kitchen. There is also a fully equipped sensory room where they can relax. Ashley Drive also has a garden. All residents have music systems in their rooms so they can listen to their own choice of music. Some residents also have televisions in their rooms.
Ashley Drive is in a quiet residential area on the outskirts of High Wycombe with two parks within several minutes walk. There are two parades of shops within a five minute walk. These include a general store and a hairdresser.
There is a pub nearby which serves food and is happy to accommodate any special dietary requests. Ashley Drive has a vehicle which belongs to all the residents for attending health appointments and for recreational activities further afield.
The local bus to High Wycombe town centre stops just around the corner. Marlow, Beaconsfield, Amersham and Aylesbury are not far away.
