Through this we pledged over 500 hours to the PlaceShapers Care-ometer. This is part of over 2000 hours pledged by PlaceShapers – a network of more than 100 community-focused housing associations - around the country.
Our staff are dedicated to giving back to their local community, which they do as part of their day-jobs but also by going ‘above and beyond’. Every year our Staff Conference involves hundreds of Hightown employees going out to lend a hand at various charities in Herts, Beds, Bucks and Berks and nominating a sponsored local charity to support throughout the year.
This year Hightown staff picked Hertfordshire Mind as their chosen charity and fundraising is already underway with bake sales, sweepstakes, quiz nights and a ‘Couch to 5k’ run in the diary.
PlaceShapers chair Sinéad Butters said: “Up and down the country We Care Day focuses on the rich diversity of ways that our members care for people and communities. Whilst we take great care in providing high-quality homes that are safe and well maintained, we also focus on the people who live in them, working with them and our wider partners to ensure we provide what’s needed. We Care shows what this means on a day-to-day basis.”
