The school holidays can be a stressful time for some families but your county council may be able to help you. They have been working with local organisations, schools and charity groups to provide a variety of exciting and interesting activities and experiences in their local area throughout the summer holidays - for free!

Thanks to the government-funded Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, thousands of places have been made available to eligible school-aged children and young people, who receive benefits-related free school meals.

From football to photography, music to art, science to drama, there is an activity for every age and interest. Whilst the activities allow children and young people to learn new skills they may not otherwise have the chance to, they also provide the opportunity to develop existing hobbies too.

It’s not just about the activities, though; all children who attend will benefit from getting to mix with their friends and other children during the long summer break, whilst being provided with a hot, nutritious meal and having fun.

Take-up is expected to be high and advice for eligible families is to book onto the HAF clubs of your choice as soon as you receive your HAF code from your child’s school.
