It’s National Allotments Week (13th – 19th August) and James, a resident at Hightown’s supported living service in Tring, has been working hard to keep his vegetables alive and well during the recent heatwave.

Residents at the Westcroft House learning disability service regularly visit their allotment but James, who has autism and works full time at Tesco, is particularly committed to growing his own food.

‘Living and growing’ is the theme for this year’s National Allotments Week highlighting the benefits of homegrown food. After carefully tending to his pumpkins throughout this year’s dry summer, James is hopeful for a bumper crop in time for Halloween!
