When residents of one of Hightown Housing Association’s housing schemes expressed their disappointment at the end of the mobile library service around Bushey, Scheme Manager Celia Young stepped in to help get them stuck into their books again.
Celia, who manages Moatview Court in Bushey for the charitable organisation, arranged for Hertsmere Community Transport to provide monthly trips to Bushey Library from the retirement scheme in Moatview Road.
It has proved such a popular venture, that she’s also arranged for residents of another nearby retirement scheme to join them on the regular mini-bus. There is still room on the bus for other local residents who are missing the mobile library.
Celia said: “It started with one lady, who is an avid reader, and now we have a regular group going to the library. They really enjoy their visits, which we know help stop them becoming isolated. In fact, it’s one of several activities we run for our residents here, including day trips.”
If you would like to join the monthly Bushey Library trips, or know someone who might be interested, please contact Celia on 020 8950 0369.
