    Care

The Elms, in Aylesbury, provides extra care service for people aged 55 and over with a support need. It's a practical alternative to moving into a care home.

The level of care and support provided can be changed if your needs change, for example if you need some extra support after a hospital stay. Extra Care housing is also suitable for couples who have different care needs.

The Elms provides service users with the opportunity to experience independent supported living accommodation whilst still having their care needs met, providing tailored one to one support for the people living at The Elms. Our aim is for service users to remain as independent as possible for as long as possible, building on their daily living skills. Staff support service users who have varying levels of need, including assistance with personal care, managing medication, support to maintain their home, managing their money and accessing health services. Service users are also supported to access day services, leisure activities in the community and attend activities at The Elms.

Extra Care housing may suit you if you:

    • find it hard to cope in your existing accommodation.
    • already receive home care services.
    • have unpredictable care needs.
    • have few care needs now but want to prepare for the future.

    Activities

There’s more on offer at The Elms than care though, as there are communal facilities and social activities on hand, providing plenty of opportunities to socialise, both with other residents and the wider community. Activities include bingo, craft sessions such as knitting and card making and gentle exercise sessions led by qualified specialist instructors. "The atmosphere at the Elms is like being in a large family looked after by very caring, respectful and understanding staff who treat you with dignity. I shall be forever grateful for the wonderful support which gave me the confidence to move on with my life."

Timothy, former resident at the Elms

Mum has lived at The Elms for four years and she has thrived since moving in. They cater to mums needs mentally and are so supportive. The Management and staff are fantastic and caring with mum and all the residents. What has helped mum massively is how lovely and supportive the staff have been from day one! I have nothing but positive things to say about The Elms.

I love living here. It doesn't feel like living in a home; it feels like I'm at home.
