The Elms, in Aylesbury, provides Extra Care housing as a practical alternative to moving into a care home.
Care is available 24 hours a day - even if you don't need regular care it can be reassuring to know that someone is there if you fall, or feel ill or unsafe.

The level of care and support provided can be changed if your needs change, for example if you need some extra support after a hospital stay. Extra Care housing is also suitable for couples who have different care needs.

The Elms has both one or two bedroom self-contained apartments fully equipped with the latest technology to alert staff of any issues and give you peace of mind. Many of the rooms are suitable for wheelchair users. Extra Care housing may suit you if you:

    • find it hard to cope in your existing accommodation.
    • already receive home care services.
    • have unpredictable care needs.
    • have few care needs now but want to prepare for the future.

There’s more on offer at The Elms than care though, as there are communal facilities and social activities on hand, providing plenty of opportunities to socialise, both with other residents and the wider community. Activities include bingo, craft sessions such as knitting and card making and gentle exercise sessions led by qualified specialist instructors. Residents also have access to a shared garden which has a vegetable patch with raised beds, a greenhouse and a court yard garden with outside seating.

There is a large kitchen which is used for healthy eating and ‘learning to cook’ sessions and for Sunday lunches and occasion meals which residents can sign up for.

If you would like more information on the support that Hightown could provide please call us on 01442 292354 or send an email to support@hightownha.org.uk.

"The atmosphere at the Elms is like being in a large family looked after by very caring, respectful and understanding staff who treat you with dignity. I shall be forever grateful for the wonderful support which gave me the confidence to move on with my life."

Timothy, former resident at the Elms
