Napier Close is a purpose built block of 15 supported living, self contained 1 bedroom flats providing people with learning disabilities with 24 hour support. There is an office with a communal lounge, which is used for games nights, take-away evenings and other shared leisure activities.
Napier Close is focused on meaningful service user involvement and enabling service users to live independent lives with the support of a network of staff, family and friends at Napier Close.
All service users are supported to use facilities in the community, such as the leisure centre and library. Service users are also encouraged to take an active role in the community which may include volunteering, fundraising, finding a job or accessing education and training, depending on their individual needs.
Service users are also helped to develop their independence by learning new skills, helping others and providing a support network for their fellow service users. Staff support service users to move on to independent living, where applicable.
Staff provide 24-hour cover and support. During the night there is always one member of staff in the building. There is emergency support from a senior member of staff who is on call for advice at all times and each service user has an identified link worker.
Napier Close staff encourage living a healthy lifestyle and provide support with cooking and healthy eating.
All service users are registered with local GPs and have access to locally based community health services. Specialist health support can also be provided if necessary.
Advocacy workers are encouraged and supported at Napier Close. Advocates are welcome to represent / support service users at their meetings if requested by the service user.
