Staff at Ellis House provide personalised support to people living in their own homes to help them meet their full potential. Tenants have a tenancy agreement for their flat and are supported to apply for housing benefit to help with the cost of their rent. Tenants are also responsible for their own electric, gas and water bills.
Tenants develop a person centred plan with their link worker to meet their needs for daily living skills, leisure and daytime activities. Tenants are also involved in the recruitment and selection of new staff and reviewing policies and procedures to help them feel empowered and involved in decision making at Ellis House.
Social interaction in the local community is actively encouraged and visitors are welcome, subject to the wishes of the tenant.
All tenants are offered a ‘purple health folder’ and supported to keep this up to date to ensure they receive the support they need – for example, attending doctors and hospital appointments. All tenants are registered with local GPs and have access to locally based community health services. Specialist health support can also be provided if necessary.
Advocacy workers are encouraged and supported at Ellis House. Advocates are welcome to represent / support tenants at their meetings if requested by the tenant.
Each flat consists of an open plan lounge and fitted kitchen, a bathroom with an over bath shower and a single bedroom.
Tenants are required to furnish their own flats. Staff support tenants to research and take part in day activities or opportunities they wish to attend.
Tenants and staff work together on a newsletter - helping to provide positive interaction between tenants and staff and publicise tenant achievements.
