Own up, give back and avoid prosecution

Key amnesty 1 – 31 October

Between Tuesday 1 October and Thursday 31 October, we are running a key amnesty to give anyone who is potentially committing tenancy fraud an opportunity to avoid prosecution or legal action (relating to tenancy fraud) by returning their property keys to us.

To end a tenancy, you must return your keys and a termination form or letter to Hightown at: Hightown House, Maylands Avenue, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, HP2 4XH. If you are posting the keys, you must use a secure method of postage as you are responsible for the keys until they are received.

You can download our key amnesty termination form here.

Tenancy fraud is illegal. The most common forms are:

  • illegal occupancy
  • not living in the property
  • subletting a home to someone else
  • key selling
  • obtaining a tenancy by false information or means.
