The Residents Voice and Scrutiny Panel meeting held in July welcomed Board Member, Sarah Pickup, as well as the Chair of Hightown’s Operations Committee and some new volunteers. The Panel also welcomed back a previous member who had to take time away from the Panel over the last year due to other commitments. The volunteers were attending to find out more information about the panel and whether they would like to become members. The Panel also helped to finalise the content and layout of this years Annual Report to residents, which will soon be ready to publish on our website after their final amendments are made. Please look out for the report towards the end of August.

In addition to this, the Panel received feedback from the residents focus group which was held to review Hightown’s Customer Charter and the changes that will be made to the Charter as a result of their suggestions.

The Panel went on to scrutinise Hightown’s performance on repairs, gas safety, rent arrears recovery, and letting our homes, in particular to armed forces personnel and homeless people; around one third of Hightown’s homes let during 2018/19 were let to households assessed as statutorily homeless by their Local Authority.
