In many communal areas of apartment blocks, such as entrances and corridors, you will find fire doors. Fire doors are designed to drastically slow the spread of fire within a property. Depending on the type of fire door installed, these doors can stop a fire spreading from one room to the next for between 30 - 60 minutes.
Fire doors should never be left open. If the doors are found to have been tampered with or propped open, this is not only a breach of fire safety but it makes them ineffective. Please do not put yourself or your loved ones at risk.
