Community fun days organised by Hightown Housing Association on two St Albans estates saw families form some new friendships as they made the most of the weather and the activities on offer.
Dozens of people of all ages enjoyed the residents’ event at Praetorian Court in St Albans on Monday 22nd August, followed by another fun day on the Oysterfields estate in the town on Tuesday 23rd August attended by over 80 people. Activities for children at the Oysterfields fun day, which was supported by the local police, Aldwyck Housing Association, Youth Connexions, St Johns Ambulance, and the St Albans District Council Community Protection team included face painting, an ice cream van and a bouncy castle.
The Praetorian Court event was also attended by the local police as well as partners from the Fire Service, Trading Standards and Youth Connexions. Youngsters had a tour of a fire engine while police gave out free security marking kits and there was advice on scammers from Trading Standards.
Samantha Kemp, Hightown Housing Officer, said: “We had glorious weather and it was wonderful to see so many people having fun. We organised these events to build positive relationships between families in these communities and with our other local partners.”
