With summer holidays now in full swing, it’s important to remember to pay your rent and prioritise your bills.
Summer is an expensive time of the year for most households; the days are longer, children are not at school and you may be planning a holiday away from home. This is a reminder that rent is due weekly in advance and there are no rent free weeks. You can choose to pay rent fortnightly, four-weekly or monthly, but your account needs to be in advance by your payment frequency.
If you are in rent arrears or have any concerns with rent payments it is important that you engage with the Income Team. We can also refer you to our Financial Inclusion team if you need any help with budgeting, benefits and maximising your income.
If you are going away over the summer, you can still pay your rent before you leave or by using one of the different payment methods below:
- Pay online via the residents portal MyHightown
- Over the phone by calling 01442 292300 and ask to speak to the Income Recovery team
- You set up a direct debit by contacting your Income Recovery Officer
- Pay in person by finding your nearest PayPoint payment outlet
If you miss payments, rent recovery action will be taken against you. Rent is a priority payment and your tenancy agreement is a legal contract. You can be at risk of losing your home if you breach your tenancy agreement.
Many banks are updating their security systems for customers making card payments online. This has reportedly impacted some residents when trying to pay rent via AllPay. Please contact your bank if this has affected you.
Please ensure your rent account is up to date over the summer period and we hope that you enjoy the summer sun!
