Litslade Farm V2

Litslade Farm, a specialist learning disability service based in Newton Longville, Buckinghamshire, has won the ‘Housing with Care’ award at the regional finals of the Great British Care Awards and will now go through to the national finals, next spring.

The registered care service, run by Hightown Housing Association, was rated ‘outstanding for responsiveness’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in their last inspection, reflecting their commitment to providing person-centred care and vital support for individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities.

The ‘Housing with Care’ award recognises teams who deliver outstanding care that empowers individuals to live independently while remaining active members of the community.

The judges praised Samantha King, Registered Manager, for her exceptional leadership and commitment to creating true homes for the people supported at Litslade Farm.

Judges highlighted the team’s focus on building community connections, commenting:

“The team has worked hard to build strong links with the local village. The people supported at Litslade regularly take part in church activities and charity events, while local residents are invited to join them for coffee, Sunday lunch, and activities - helping everyone to feel valued and included.”

A family member of one of the residents added:

“Litslade Farm has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders by giving my daughter a true home-from-home, filled with love, care, and compassion. She has complex needs that require extensive medical and personal support, yet the team goes above and beyond to ensure she enjoys a fulfilling life.”

Reflecting on the win, Samantha King, Registered Manager at Hightown Housing Association, said:

“Winning this award reflects the heart and soul of Litslade farm – a truly dedicated team that shows up every day with compassion, resilience and professionalism. Their unwavering commitment ensures the people we support live the very best life possible. I am immensely proud to lead such an incredible team.”
